About The Train

Cabins

Cabin Coaches: Your chambers are steeped in history. Chambers in which, you will retire under a sky of craftsmanship that narrate timeless tales. Sink into a bed of royalty, reminiscent of the Mysore Maharajas, admire the intricate carvings on the ceiling, the wall panels and furniture inspired by Mysore and Hoysala architecture.

Each Coach of the "The Golden Chariot" has been named after the dynasties that ruled Karnataka - Kadamba, Hoysala, Rastrakota, Ganga, Chalukya, Bhahamani, Adhilshahi, Sangama, Shathavashna, Yudukula and Vijayanagar.

Day 1
Bangalore
On your arrival in Bangalore, you can check in at the hotel Taj West End. Take delight in the high tea, especially organized for you while you will be introduced to the Golden Chariot - Pride of the South journey that waits to begin. Later you can enjoy a short trip across the ChitakalaParishad and an exclusive cultural show. By 2000 hours you will assemble at the Yeshwantpur Railway Station where a traditional welcome later by the staff of the luxury train, you will be ushered to your cabins. Very soon you will travel out of Bangalore and towards the first destination, Mysore.

Dinner and overnight stay onboard.

There is an alternate plan too waiting to be picked, depending on your choice and preference.

On your arrival in the city of Bangalore you could check in at the Our Native Village, a 100% eco resort where you can savor a sumptuous lunch before being briefed on about the Pride of the South sojourn aboard the Golden Chariot. Later you can tour across the resort and explore the in house organic farms of the resort besides also being a spectator to a specially organized cultural extravaganza. While here, you could also taste a slice of the rural lifestyle of the place. By 2000 hours you will leave for the Yeshwantpur Railway Station where you will be welcomed traditionally before the journey began.

Dinner will be served aboard the train.
 
Day 2
Kabini/Bandipur
Relish your breakfast served aboard the Golden Chariot before you embark on journey to visit the jungles and wildlife environs of Kabini/Bandipur. By 01:00 hours, you will arrive in Kabini and post-lunch in the jungle lodge you will head straight to the Bandipur National Park.

Overnight stay and dinner will be arranged for you in the jungle resort.
 
Day 3
Wednesday - Mysore
Early in the morning, enjoy the boat safari. After breakfast, drive back to Mysore, where the train is stationary Lunch will be served on board the train. After Lunch you will leave for the sightseeing of Srirangapatnam.

Mysore: A World of Royalty Mysore has been always associated with the royal families and their patronage, be it the Wodeyars or the Sultans. Mysore is a city known for its resplendent palaces and majestic buildings. A visit to the city conjures up visions of the glory, still evident of the illustrious Wodeyar Kings. This former state capital still retains its tradition in music and dance, art and literature and its time-honored crafts.

A 141 kms from Bangalore, the city enchants you with its quaint charm, verdant gardens, tree-lined boulevards and its sacred temples. Mysore, once the state capital, today is a vibrant city teeming with tourists and visitors. It is known the world over for its exotic sandalwood and rich silks. Many culinary delights await those inclined to sample the regional cuisine.

Srirangapatna: The island fortress of the legendary warrior king Tipu Sultan is just 14 km from Mysore city. Inside the fortress is Tipu's mosque with its twin minarets, the Wellesley Bridge and the dungeons where British officers were once imprisoned Later in the evening, you will be taken for dinner to LalithaMahal Palace to witness the cultural show followed by dinner.

Day 4
Hassan
On the 4th day of the sojourn, guests aboard the Pride of the South itinerary will head towards Hassan, a popular Indian destination most noted for its religious significance. Shravanbelagola is the first destination that you will head to. Later you will return to the train and proceed towards Halebid and Belur. Return to the Golden Chariot by 19:15 hours and prepare to leave for the next destination, Hospet.

Day 5
Hospet
Post-breakfast aboard the train, guests of the Pride of the South sojourn can depart to explore the attractions of Hampi. Major sites housed here include names of the local crafts bazaar, the Virupaksha temple, Queen's Bath, and the Elephants Stables.

You will return to the train for lunch and some moments of leisure before you will leave for visiting the remaining attractions of the place; Royal Enclosure and the Hazara Rama Temple are a few of them to be named. Complete the day with a visit to the Vittala temple that is illuminated at night.

Guests of the Pride of the South will return to the train for dinner and overnight stay.
 
Day 6
Badami
Early morning on the 6th day of the sojourn you will travel to Badami. Badami Caves and Pattadakal are the foremost attractions to visit here.

In the afternoon you will return to the train for lunch and to travel down to Goa.

Explore the amenities of the train for the rest of the day and feast on the natural beauty of the landscapes that pass you by.

Dinner and overnight stay aboard the train.
 
Day 7
Goa
After breakfast you will embark on excursion across the city. Visit the churches of Old Goa, an Old Portuguese house – Sola Maior, and the markets of Goa on this day. Arrive at the Majorda Beach Resort for lunch. You may enjoy swimming in the in house pool of the hotel or take delight in an Ayurvedic massage session. A visit to the in house casino will more than complete your day. (Casino and Ayurvedic massages are chargeable).
 
Day 8
Bangalore (Return)
Relish on the lip smacking breakfast served aboard the train before the Pride of the South sojourn comes to an end. The luxury train will land you back in the Yashwanthpur Railway Station, Bangalore by 1100 hours on the 8th day of the trip! The journey with the Golden Chariot thus completes a full circle.
